Welcome

to GARDBERG SAILING & TRAVEL BLOG

Follow & Discover Our Trips

We are Jan, Tina, Minna och Liam. When we are not working or going to school and find time over on weekends we are out on the ocean, sailing north or south along the Sydney coast, all year around. Every year we also go home to Finland in July, when we spend time sailing in the Finnish & Swedish archipelago or meet with family and relatives at Stugviken, the summer holiday place in Turku, Finland.

"Navigare necesse est, vivere non est necesse"

“As long I can remember I have been around or on sailing boats. Our family story of sailing and ships go back a long time in history,as far as 1869, when Karl Johan Elias Gardberg was born and later became Captain on the ship "Ainio" year 1895. I was brought up listening to epic stories about sailing in and among Finland and Swedens more than 30 000 islands. Stories about leaking wooden boats, tar, cotton sails , wood shakels , corke life vest's and sailing clothes made out of wool to protect from the cold nordic winds! Over the years I have found a profound love for the beautiful arcipelago nature in Finland and Sweden but also enjoy the fun and adventures in crossing the atalantic, passages over biscaya, cruisining in the Medditerainina sea or passage through red sea and the suez channel. Currently Im slowly encouraging my wife and children to discover the beauty and happines of sailing.
